Chopin Piano Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3 Jang Woo Although criticized in their time, Chopin’s piano sonatas are now  widely performed and highly regarded.  The sonata no. 2 contains the celebrated 3rd movement “Funeral March” which was orchestrated and performed at Chopin’s own funeral in 1849. Sonata no.3 is the grandest of all Chopin’s solo piano works.  Frequently daring, it contains some of the composer’s most exciting piano writing and inventive construction.
