Chopin Collection 24 Preludes Jan Zabek The Preludes are probably Chopin’s best loved works and have inspired more fascination and comment than any of his other compositions. As 24 short piano pieces they contain remarkable variety, often sounding distinctly atmospheric and intimate yet spontaneous and fresh. Pianist Jan Zabek understands the great connection that Polish people have with Chopin and the affection they feel for his music. This deep sense of respect and wonder is evident in Zabek’s playing of these Preludes.

Chopin Collection Complete Etudes Jan Zabek The technical demands of Chopin's Etudes are well known and any pianist who masters them must possess formidable technique. Although they are essentially piano playing exercises focusing on different skills, these works contain real elegance, passion and the irresistible poetic charm that defines Chopin’s music. Polish pianist Jan Zabek plays these Etudes with all the required virtuosity, whilst consistently maintaining an emotional gravitas.

Chopin Piano Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3 Jang Woo Although criticized in their time, Chopin’s piano sonatas are now widely performed and highly regarded. The sonata no. 2 contains the celebrated 3^rd movement “Funeral March” which was orchestrated and performed at Chopin’s own funeral in 1849. Sonata no.3 is the grandest of all Chopin’s solo piano works. Frequently daring, it contains some of the composer’s most exciting piano writing and inventive construction. Competition prize winner Jang Woo shows wonderful assurance with these piano sonatas, her playing is both robust and dazzling.

Olga Kumik - Fantasy and Reflection In this, her debut CD, the outstanding young Polish pianist Olga Kumik plays three great piano fantasies by Mozart, Chopin and Brahms. With mature understanding and impeccable technique, Kumik delivers an absorbing account of these three wonderful piano works. To complete the CD, there is Ravel’s five movement piano suite Miroirs.
